Riyad as-Salihin 948 (Book 6, Hadith 55) #37437
Charity Given After Death Rewarded

SUMMARY: A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) if his mother would receive reward for charity given on her behalf after her death. The Prophet (ﷺ) said yes.

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: A man said to the Prophet : "My mother has died suddenly. I think that if she were able to talk (alive) she would have given in Sadaqah (charity). So, if I give Sadaqah now on her behalf, will she get the reward?" The Messenger of Allah said, "Yes (she will be rewarded for that)". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do good deeds and help others even when they are no longer alive . Remember our loved ones who have passed away by doing acts of kindness in their name such as giving charity or helping those in need .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that even after a person has passed away, they can still receive rewards for good deeds done on their behalf. In this case, the man asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ if his mother would receive reward for charity given in her name after she had died and the Prophet ﷺ said yes. This teaches us that we should always strive to do good deeds and help others even when they are no longer alive as these actions will still be rewarded by Allah SWT in the afterlife. We should also remember our loved ones who have passed away by doing acts of kindness in their name such as giving charity or helping those in need.
