Double Rewards for Good Deeds

SUMMARY: Believers of other religions, slaves, and those who free and marry their slave-girls will receive double rewards.

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "Three kinds of people will have a double reward: A man from the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet and (also) believes in Muhammad; a slave who discharges properly the duties towards Allah and towards his master; and a man who possesses a slave-girl and teaches her manners, educates her well, and frees her and then marries her". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of good deeds and how they can be rewarded. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that three kinds of people will have a double reward from Allah. The first is a person from the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet as well as in Muhammad ﷺ. The second is a slave who fulfills his duties to Allah and to his master properly. Lastly, it is someone who has a slave-girl, educates her well, frees her then marries her. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to do good deeds no matter what our circumstances are because we can be rewarded for them by Allah SWT if we do them sincerely for His sake alone. It also shows us that slavery should not be taken lightly but rather treated with respect and kindness so that both parties may benefit from it spiritually as well as materially.
