Riyad as-Salihin 1367 (Book 11, Hadith 83) #37856
Discharging Obligations

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that the best of people are those who are best in discharging their obligations, such as repayment of loans.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man demanded of the Prophet for repayment of a loan and was harsh to him. His Companions were about to attack him, but he said, "Leave him, as the creditor is entitled to make a demand. Give him a camel of the same age as the camel that is due to him". They said: "We find a better camel senior to it in age". He said, "Then buy it and give it to him; verily the best of you is the one who is the best in discharging his obligations (repayment of loans)". Al- Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Fulfill your obligations , Show mercy & kindness
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that it is important to fulfill our obligations and responsibilities. We should be honest and responsible when it comes to repaying loans or any other debts we owe. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that the best among us are those who are the most responsible in fulfilling their obligations. He also showed mercy and kindness towards a man who was demanding repayment of a loan from him, even though his companions were about to attack him for being harsh. This teaches us to always show mercy and kindness even when someone is being difficult with us, as this is what Allah expects from us.
