Riyad as-Salihin 1371 (Book 11, Hadith 87) #37860
The Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith tells us that Allah is more entitled to show leniency and mercy than anyone else, and that we should strive to do the same.

Abu Mas'ud Al-Badri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "A person from amongst the people who lived before you was called to account by Allah on the Day of Resurrection. No good deeds were found in his credit except that he being a rich man had (financial) dealings with people and had commanded his servants to show leniency to those who were in straitened circumstances. Upon this Allah, the Exalted, and Majestic said: 'I am more entitled to this attribute, so waive (his faults)"'. Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Showing mercy and lenience towards others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the mercy of Allah. It explains how a rich man was called to account on the Day of Resurrection for his deeds. Although he did not have any good deeds in his credit except for commanding his servants to show leniency towards those who were in straitened circumstances, Allah still showed him mercy and waived his faults. This teaches us that no matter what our situation is or what we have done wrong in our lives, if we strive to show mercy and leniency towards others then Allah will also be merciful towards us. We should always remember this lesson when dealing with others so that we can receive His blessings in return.
