Riyad as-Salihin 1395 (Book 13, Hadith 3) #37884
The Reward of Praising Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that when a slave's child dies, Allah will ask His angels what the slave said. If the slave praised Allah and said "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un", then Allah will reward them by building a house for them in Jannah called Bait-ul-Hamd (the House of Praise).

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "When a slave's child dies, Allah the Most High asks His angels, 'Have you taken out the life of the child of My slave?" They reply in the affirmative. He then asks, 'Have you taken the fruit of his heart?' They reply in the affirmative. Thereupon he asks, 'What has My slave said?' They say: 'He has praised You and said: Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall be returned). Allah says: 'Build a house for My slave in Jannah and name it as Bait-ul-Hamd (the House of Praise)"'. At-Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Thanking God for his mercy and kindness even during difficult times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when a person's child passes away, if they praise and thank God for their situation then He will reward them with a house in heaven. The house is called Bait ul Hamd which translates to 'House of Praise'. It is important to remember that even though it may be difficult to accept the death of someone close to us we should still thank God for His mercy and kindness. We should also remember that this life is temporary and our ultimate goal should be to strive towards paradise.
