Remembering Allah: The Difference Between Life and Death

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) compared the difference between those who remember Allah and those who do not to that of the living and the dead.

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet said, "The similitude of one who remembers his Rabb and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
وعن أبي موسى الأشعري رضي الله عنه عن النبي ، قال‏:‏ ‏"‏مثل الذي يذكر ربه والذي لا يذكره، مثل الحي والميت‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه البخاري‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏ ورواه مسلم فقال‏:‏ ‏"‏مثل البيت الذي يذكر الله فيه، والبيت الذي لا يذكر الله فيه، مثل الحي والميت‏"‏‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ compares the difference between those who remember Allah and those who do not to that of the living and the dead. Those who remember their Lord are alive in their hearts, while those who forget Him are spiritually dead. This hadith encourages us to always keep our faith alive by remembering Allah through prayer, recitation of Quran, supplication etc. It also reminds us that we should strive to be among those whose hearts are alive with faith in order for us to be successful in this life as well as in our hereafter.
