Seeking Refuge in Allah from Undesirable Manners

SUMMARY: This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations.

Ziyad bin 'Ilaqah reported: My uncle Qutbah bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet used to supplicate: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi, wal-a'mali, wal- ahwa'i (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations)". At-Tirmidhi.
وعن زياد بن علاقة عن عمه، وهو قطبة بن مالك، رضي الله عنه، قال‏:‏ كان النبي ، يقول‏:‏ ‏ "‏اللهم إني أعوذ بك من منكرات الأخلاق، والأعمال، والأهواء‏"‏‏.‏ رواه الترمذي وقال حديث حسن‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations. It was narrated by Ziyad bin 'Ilaqah who reported that his uncle Qutbah bin Malik said that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to supplicate to Allah saying "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi, wal-a'mali, wal- ahwa'i" which translates to "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from undesirable manners, deeds, and aspirations". This hadith teaches us the importance of seeking protection from God against bad behavior and wrong actions as well as bad desires or intentions. It also encourages us to make supplications or duas regularly so that we can be protected against any negative influences or temptations. The values taught by this hadith are humility before God and reliance on Him for protection against evil influences.
