Riyad as-Salihin 1501 (Book 16, Hadith 37) #37990
The Power of Supplication

SUMMARY: Allah will always accept the supplications of a Muslim, unless it is something sinful or breaks the ties of kinship.

'Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah said, "Whenever a Muslim supplicates Allah, He accepts his supplication or averts any similar kind of trouble from him until he prays for something sinful or something that may break the ties of kinship". Upon this someone of the Companions said: "Then we shall supplicate plenty". The Messenger of Allah said, "Allah is more plentiful (in responding)". At- Tirmidhi.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power and importance of supplication in Islam. It teaches us that when we make du'a, Allah will always accept it unless it is something sinful or breaks the ties of kinship. This means that we should be mindful and careful about what we ask for from Allah, as He knows best what is good for us and what isn’t. We should also remember that Allah is more plentiful than anything else in responding to our prayers, so no matter how much we pray He will never run out! This hadith encourages us to make du'a often and with sincerity as a way to stay connected with our Creator.
