The Reward of Self-Control

SUMMARY: Allah will reward those who are able to control their tongues and their desires.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "He whom Allah saves from the evil of that which is between his jaws and the evil of that which is between his legs will enter Jannah". At-Tirmidhi.
وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله ‏:‏ ‏ "‏ومن وقاه الله شر ما بين لحييه، وشر ما بين رجليه دخل الجنة‏"‏‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه الترمذي، وقال‏:‏ حديث حسن‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

This hadith encourages us to practice self-control in order to receive the ultimate reward from Allah - entry into paradise. We should strive to keep our tongues from speaking ill of others and our desires away from things that are forbidden by Islam so that we may be rewarded for it in the hereafter.
