Humility Before the Tongue

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that when a person wakes up in the morning, all of their limbs should be humble before the tongue and remind it to fear Allah.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet said, "When the son of Adam gets up in the morning, all the limbs humble themselves before the tongue and say: 'Fear Allah for our sake because we are with you: (ie, we will be rewarded or punished as a result of what you do) if you are straight, we will be straight; and if you are crooked, we will become crooked"'. At- Tirmidhi.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about humility and how we should strive to fear Allah in our daily lives. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when a person wakes up in the morning, all of their limbs should be humble before their tongue and remind it to fear Allah. This means that we must use our tongues for good deeds such as speaking kindly, reciting Quran, and remembering Allah. We must also avoid using our tongues for bad deeds such as lying or backbiting. Our limbs will be rewarded or punished based on what we do with our tongues so it is important to use them wisely!
