Speaking Kindly of Others

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to not help Satan by speaking ill of others, even if they have done wrong.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: A drunkard was brought to the Prophet . He said, "Give him a beating". Then some beat him with their hands, some with their shoes, and some with (a folded) piece of cloth. When he left, someone said to him: "May Allah disgrace you!" The Prophet said, "Do not help Satan overcome him by uttering such words". Al- Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak kindly towards others no matter what they have done wrong.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of being kind and respectful to others, even if they have done something wrong. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was brought a drunkard and instead of punishing him himself, he asked for someone else to do it. After the punishment was over, someone spoke ill of the drunkard and the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) told them not to help Satan by speaking such words. This teaches us that we should always be patient and forgiving towards others no matter what they have done wrong. We should also remember that it is never okay to speak ill or disrespectfully about anyone else as this will only lead us down a path away from Allah's mercy.
