The Power of Asking Forgiveness and Allah's Mercy

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of asking for forgiveness from Allah and His mercy.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: We counted Messenger's saying a hundred times during one single sitting: Rabb- ighfir li, wa tubb 'alayya, innaka Antat-Tawwabur-Rahim. (My Rabb! Forgive me and pardon me. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning with compassion and Ever Merciful". Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi.
وعن بن عمر رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ كنا نعد لرسول الله في المجلس الواحد مائة مرة‏:‏ ‏ "‏رب اغفر لي، وتب على إنك أنت التواب الرحيم‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه أبوداود والترمذي‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏ وقال : (( حديث حسن صحيح غريب

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of seeking forgiveness from Allah. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar, who said that he heard Prophet Muhammad say this prayer a hundred times in one sitting. The prayer is "Rabb-ighfir li, wa tubb 'alayya, innaka Antat-Tawwabur-Rahim" which translates to "My Lord! Forgive me and pardon me. Indeed, You are the Oft-Returning with compassion and Ever Merciful". This hadith teaches us that we should always seek forgiveness from Allah for our sins as He is ever merciful and will forgive us if we sincerely repent. We should also remember that no matter how many times we make mistakes or sin, He will always accept our repentance if it comes from a sincere heart. Furthermore, this hadith also reminds us to be grateful for His mercy as it is only through His grace that we can find redemption for our sins.
