Seeking Forgiveness and Repentance

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) seeks Allah's forgiveness and repents to Him more than seventy times a day.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah saying: "By Allah, I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day". Al-Bukhari.
وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ سمعت رسول الله يقول‏:‏ ‏ "‏والله إني لأستغفر الله وأتوب إليه في اليوم أكثر من سبعين مرة ‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه البخاري‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of seeking forgiveness from Allah and repenting to Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was an example for us in this regard as he sought forgiveness from Allah more than seventy times a day. This shows us how important it is for us to seek repentance from our Lord and ask for His mercy. It also teaches us that we should never give up on asking for His mercy no matter how many times we have done wrong or made mistakes in the past. We should always strive to make amends with our Lord by seeking His forgiveness and repenting sincerely. Furthermore, this hadith also encourages us to make prayer a part of our daily routine as it is one of the best ways to seek repentance from Allah and ask for His mercy.
