Responsibility of Guardianship

SUMMARY: Everyone is responsible for their own actions and the actions of those under their care.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects, the man is a guardian of his family, the woman is a guardian and is responsible for her husband's house and his offspring; and so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of responsibility and accountability in our lives. It teaches us that everyone has a role to play in society, whether it be as a ruler, man, woman or otherwise. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that all people are guardians and are responsible for their subjects. This means that we must take responsibility for our own actions as well as those of others who are under our care. For example, a ruler must take responsibility for his subjects by providing them with justice and fairness; a man must take responsibility for his family by providing them with love and protection; and a woman must take responsibility for her husband's house by taking care of it properly. In short, this hadith reminds us to be mindful of our responsibilities towards ourselves and others so that we can create an equitable society where everyone is taken care of properly.
