Remembering God through du'as before going to sleep or waking up.

This hadith narrates the supplications that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to make when he went to bed and when he woke up. When going to bed, the Prophet would say "Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya," which translates as "O Allah, with Your Name I die and I live". Upon waking up, the Prophet would say "Al-hamdu lil-lahilladhi ahyana ba'da ma an atana, wa ilaihi an-nushur" which translates as "All praise is due to Allah who gave us life after He caused us death and unto Him is our resurrection". These supplications are reminders for Muslims of their mortality and dependence on God for all things. They also serve as a reminder that life should be lived in accordance with God's will.
