Sahih Muslim 93a (Book 1, Hadith 175) #7440
Unavoidable Fate of the Hereafter

SUMMARY: Death is unavoidable and those who die without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, while those who associate anything with Allah will enter Hell.

It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that a man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: Messenger of Allah, what are the two things quite unavoidable? He replied: He who dies without associating anyone with Allah would (necessarily) enter Paradise and he who dies associating anything with Allah would enter the (Fire of) Hell.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the fate of people in the hereafter. It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that a man came to the Messenger of Allah and asked what are two things quite unavoidable. The Prophet replied that he who dies without associating anyone with Allah would necessarily enter Paradise and he who dies associating anything with Allah would enter the Fire of Hell. This hadith teaches us that death is inevitable for all human beings, but our fate in the hereafter depends on how we live our lives here on earth. Those who believe in God alone and do not associate any partners or idols to Him will be rewarded by entering paradise, while those who commit shirk or idolatry will be punished by entering hellfire. Therefore, it is important for us to live a life devoted to God alone so that we can attain salvation in the hereafter.
