A woman's jewelry is not zakatable. Zakat is obligatory on a woman's dowry if it meets the following conditions:

- It is paid in cash and is in the woman's possession.

- It has reached nisab [minimum sum upon which zakat is due. Nisab equals 85 grams of 21 carat gold according to market price].

- It is in surplus of her basic needs.

- It has been in her possession for one full lunar year.
