Topic: A husband shaving his beard against the will of his wife

Question 109582: Salam. Is it considered haram for the husband to shave his beard? If the women sees her husband very nice in the beard, but the husband shaves it because he wants to, but the wife wants him to leave on, is this a sin? Also, if the wife tells him to leave it on because it is haram to take it off and also, because the wife enjoys it when he leaves the beard on him, would it really be haram to shave it? jaza Allah khayran.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger. It is forbidden for a man to shave his beard as clarified in Fataawa 84474 and 90928. Therefore, we advise you to continue advising your husband with wisdom and in a soft and good manner in order to keep his beard unshaved while providing him with religious evidence, as he might take heed and stop shaving his beard.Allaah Knows best.
