Al-Kharashi a Maaliki scholar, said: "Touching the Mus-haf (copy of the Quran): It means that being in a state of impurity prevents one to touch a Mus-haf which is written in Arabic. Writing is like touching in this regard unless it is a verse in a book, basmalah (In the Name of Allaah) or a part of the Quran or religious admonishments in a paper," he added.Nevertheless, if there is a need for this, as is the case in the question, it is permissible.
