Dear Br. J. As-salaamu alaykum. There is no mention in the Quran or the Hadith about the place where prophet Adam (peace be upon him) or Eve descended. However, the interpreters of the Quran have stated that verse 36 in Surah al-Baqarah (2) refers to the area of Mountain of Sarandeeb in what is known today as Sri-Lanka. This is the place where Adam is believed to have descended. As to Eve, she may have descended in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Dear Sr. S. As-salaamu alaykum. What we know from the Qur'an is that Adam (pbuh) was created from clay. What we know from the Hadith is that Eve was created from Adam's rib. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Question 3370
:
Dear Imam Sahib, I would like to ask you regarding the answer you gave to the question #1394. From the reference of Hadist Bukhari, I quote your answer: "...prophet Adam (pbuh) WAS BORN 60 arm-length...". Remind me if I am mistaken but do both Christian and Islamic scholars agree that Adam was the first man created by God? So what exactly do you mean by saying "he was born"? Does it mean he was born from a mother or what? That's it for now. Wassalam
Dear S. Greetings from Islamicity's Imam. Yes, both Muslims and Christians agree that prophet Adam (pbuh) was the first man created by God. He had no mother nor father but was created from clay. We made an un-intentional translation mistake by using the word "born" instead of "created" in answer 1394. We have corrected the answer and appreciate your feedback. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Question 3327
:
Assalamu'alaikum Wr.Wb., Dear Imam I kind of disaproved about the understanding that Adam was the first man ever created by Allah. According to Al-Qur'an itself (I forgot the verse but I am sure you know), it says that when Allah wanted to give Adam a title as The Caliph on Earth, spontaneously Angels disaproved with 'Allah's policy'. Their argumentation was that they were afraid that Adam will make a disorderness and bloodshed(?) on earth. Infer to this verse, I ask myself: How on heaven the Angels had such a point ofview that he (i.e. Adam) would make such things if he was the first 'prototype' of human kind? Furthermore, may Allah forgives me if I am wrong, I kind of making an interpretation that the only way the Angels could know such notions of man kind was by their experience. What I meant is that there were some Caliphs BEFORE Adam who were unresponsible and abused their position. Now my question to you is simple: WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE THEORY ABOVE? Before and after, thank you very much for your attention. Wassalam
Dear Br. K. As-salaamu alaykum. What the angels did was an assumption that Adam and the human beings on earth afterwards were going to do bloodshed on earth because by their nature, the Angels don't know the future and the unseen (Ilm al-Ghayb). The Angels realize their own selves that they are creatures who are created from light and who obey Allah at all time. They also know that other creatures may not obey Allah because they are from a different nature. The Qur'an relates to us the story of the discourse between Allah and the Angels as an example of how consultation should take place, although Allah doesn't need to consult with anyone nor to take the opinion of anyone at the end since He is The All Knowing. As to the issue of Adam being the first man on earth, no Muslim doubts this fact and scientific evidence has already proved that all human beings on earth from all races and regions have a common single father (not even mother), proving the Adam Theory. In addition, scientific evidence (see for example the French Magazine: Science et Vie, March 1998, No. 966) has been suggesting that life came from outer space, and Muslims have always believed that Adam came (or descended) from "Above". Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)
