Dear Br. S. As-salaamu alaykum. Alcohol is both an intoxicant and an addictive substance. Therefore, not only will its consumption affect your mind and you will be addicted to it, but also your liver, your heart, and other critical body parts can be damaged. The side effects of alcohol are too numerous to list here. People who drink may also hurt themselves or others more than when they take medications prescribed by a doctor. Therefore and first of all, seek the help of Allah to cure you from insomnia. Then, since many but not all insomnia-related problems are psychologically driven, you will have to work hard to reach a stage of peace within yourself. Reading the Qur'an regularly, praying daily, fasting, giving charity, and being in the company of good Muslims are all good start ups. These are all divine prescriptions that will save you money, time, energy, and a lot of side effects on your health. But at the same time, seek the help of a professional medical doctor to correctly diagnose your situation and prescribe appropriate solutions (not necessarily medications) with the least side effect. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity) Classified in Alcohol > Sleeping
