I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger.  Endeavoring to help the Muslims and repel harm from them is something Islamically required, and it is possible for this to be by seeking the help of a non-Muslim. In this meaning, Ibn Is-Haaq and others reported that when the Prophet (saw) came back from At-Taaif, he entered Makkah under the protection of a non-Muslim man whose name was Al-Mutim ibn 'Adiyy. Similarly, when Abu Bakr wanted to migrate to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) he came back and he entered (Makkah) under the protection of Ibn Ad-Dughunnah, who was a non-Muslim. Allaah Knows best.
