Dear Br. K. As-salaamu alaykum. There is a big difference between singing in the Adhan and between calling people for prayer in an Adhan that sounds good but without musical intonations. While singing in the Adhan is prohibited (by singing we mean making the words longer with musical intonations that transcend the purpose of the Adhan), calling the Adhan on the other hand with a beautiful voice that has a good sound (not exaggerated musical intonations) is allowed because it is a reason for people to come for prayers. Hence, the Adhan should not take any of the opposite limits (simply words versus singing), but a middle ground is allowed to remind people of Allah, of His Prophet and of the time to perform the collective prayer. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity) Classified in Athan >
