1943 Dear Br. Y. As-salaamu alaykum. The Kaaba was built five times. The first time, it was built by the Angels before prophet Adam (peace be upon him). It was made out of ruby. Then, the structure was raised to the sky during the time of the flood. 2-The second time it was built by prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). 3-The third time, the Quraish tribe built it during the Jahiliyyah time at prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was present at that time. 4-The fourth time, Abdullah Ibn al-Zubayr built it. 5And the 5th time, it was the Hajaj who built the structure that we know today. As to the black stone, it is said that it is from Heaven but it turned black due to the sins of the believers. As to your last question, Muslims turn towards the Kaaba as an obedience to God.
