Question 897: Assalamualaikum wbt, After the tumbling of caliph system, all muslim over the world facing difficult time to get togrther again. There are some effort all over the world to regain this system by performing varieties of jamaah. There are opinion that there should only be one jamaah. Others said that with varieties of jamaah, muslim can complete one another. I know that these are all ijtihadi problem. That is the reality, there is no trust and acknowledgement between these groups. My questions are... 1. Is it true that only one jamaah should exist nowadays to encounter the problems faced by the muslim 2, Is there any hadith/quranic verse state specifically for that condition I heard one ijtihad from Prof Yusuf Qardhawi stating the issue of varieties group not be a big problem if these group work together although they have different ways of methodology and approach. Dear F. T.: Assalaamu alaykum. Regarding your question, the answer is contained within the question itself. If Muslims around the world were one group (community-society) with one leadership, then this would be the khilafah. However, the reality is opposite to that and the Muslims are divided into groups and parties all around East and West. For that, it is not forbidden to have many groups -as the situation is actually- as long as we belong to Islam as an ideology and system.
