A debate, where we will have an opportunity to hear from Muslim Democratic and Republican perspective on various topics.

Salam Al-Marayati (Representing the Democratic view) is president and co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, a national public affairs nonprofit organization working to promote and strengthen American pluralism by increasing understanding and improving policies that impact American Muslims. He is an expert on Islam in the West, Muslim reform movements, human rights, democracy, national security, and Middle East politics. He has spoken at the White House, Capitol Hill, and represented the U.S. at international human rights and religious freedom conferences.

Suhail A. Khan (Representing the Republican view) is a conservative activist and former Bush administration official. He serves as Director of External Affairs at Microsoft Corporation and a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Global Engagement, a Christian religious freedom think tank. Suhail served as a policy advisor and counsel on Capitol Hill and a senior political appointee with the Bush administration. He served in the White House and as an advisor for two cabinet secretaries. He was awarded the U.S. DOT Secretary’s Team Award in 2005 and the Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement in 2007. Suhail was awarded the Young Conservative Coalition's Buckley Award in 2010.

Iman Ali (Moderator) has a Master's degree from Harvard University and working on her second master's from Vanderbilt University in Religion, Ethics, and Politics. She is a Kentucky native with a passion for Public Service. She is the founder of Imancipation; a social media project to serve as a resource on political, academic, and social initiatives regarding historically oppressed communities. Iman is a devoted advocate for inclusive Healthcare and thoughtful Education Reform in Appalachia.
