All Woman are Leaders in Islam and Leaders in Life!
Salam Aliakoam Though I am tempted to criticize a comment of a woman not being a good leader I will say that the reality of the matter is that sex has noting to do with being a good leader! All women are Leaders in Islam! Woman are the corner stone and foundation of civilization, we bare the children whom every man desires but he himself can never do such a feat! Woman have stood behind many a man and supported him on his mission and have born the burden of being sexual exploited, abused and tortured with dignity that goes beyond the scope a man can understand. Woman have raised the children and cared for the home, educated herslf, held high positions and great trust and been worthy of it. Khadejeh Mohammed's PBUH wife was a leading woman of business and well respected even by Mohammed PBUH. It was his wife that encouraged him to take up the call from Allah when he was shivering in his blankets to have courage and accept the call! Woman can be great leaders and we are every day and like men we have good days and bad days that does not make us bad leaders or not worthy of trust it makes us human just like our mates, men. I think using that lame excuse that it says it in the Quran in this case is just another way of saying I am scared of the leadership of woman that they might if they have the upper hand abuse us men like we abused them if the got the chance if they/we have leadership roles. I never met a leader that was a good leader who intentiallly abused anyone! May Allah guide you well, it is the year 2006 not 567Ad. Not all woman want to be mothers or wives or home makers and from what I have seen except for abusive men every man wants his wife to have an income of her own and not be depended on him. We are your equalin every respect and we have proven it more than abundantly, why do you wish to repress the advancement of women at their expense all because your afraid they might be better at the job than you are. Just my thoughts on this I am sure youtr not one of those men who want their wife barefoot and preganant and home all the time are you? If you are at least provide for your family in such a way that your wifes intellectual, physical and spiritual needs are fully met including activities she has full fredom to do like exercising and education , counseling and consultation to resolve her needs and challenges. Not to mention no fear of physical, emotional or sexual abuse from you at any time and if it has happen then seek counseling as soon as possible because her health and well being is the health and well being of the family not just yours or the children. Myself I have been through great trials and fortunately I have come through them with a more positive attitude all due to my family being positive with me not to mention the excellence in counseling, education and consultation I recieved and making my own personal Hajj, Sacride Pilgrimage to my life and my family. What ever your life situation may Allah guide you well, may you be kind to all and respectful even to those you count less than yourself for you know not what their journey or trials have been and why they have choosen to act out in such a manner. May Allah bring peace to your heart and open your mind for a New unfolding world that is more caring, compassionate and a world that is getting better at empowering people to be their best even though it seems one heart at a time. Inshallah that number will grow and Islam, True Islam will be made fully Manifest in the days ahead. Mahsallah may our heart, minds and souls become the ready army in World Arising Responsibly and Spiritually in peaceful, lawabiding and caring ways to everyone and the seen and the unseen with many affirmations of faith Inshallah, I am ready are you? Anne Marie Elderkin Habibi We Move and Motive the World, let it be with kindness, generousity, compassion, mindfullness and most of all appreciation for this truely magnificant World ney Heaven Allah has set at our feet for all to take benifit from. The time of wars of violence and blood taking are over we must unit and wage Jihad for the Earth herself for her plight is now one dangerously close to the end of times if we do not look after her. Recycle, be environementally conscious in all you do as best you can. Her body and being is part of the seen and unseen and it is her gifts that nourish us we must remeber her in our days in all we do, as best we can.

Bismillah, Alaykum Assalaam, Sister Anne Marie, I agree that many women are born leaders, caring for our children and families, getting things done that need to and having them get done as well. I am not a leader although I have done some good things in my life. Directing children to the straight path challenges the best of us. ISA, we grow stronger and better at it each day. I disagree that men will never know the hardships that we face. Some men have suffered more than I ever will. May Allah, SWT, give them strength. Suffering is so personal. How can we claim to have suffered more than all others? I have suffered more than many people and have learned a lot about life because of it, so it has been a strange blessing, but a blessing from our Merciful Lord nonetheless. Unfortunately, I don't see an end to the wars and bloodshed in the near future. Maybe you are referring to the Christian thousand years of peace? Edited by herjihad |

Alaikoam Salam In acknowldeging the suffering of woman and children I do not neglect the suffering of men, just in this particular thread mentioned it because some people feel woman have not been good leaders and historical figures have made such comments. I believe woman are excellent leaders and so can children be, if we are conscious we set an example by what we do or do not do then maybe more people would be mindful and care more about what they do or do not do. I would not agree that you Herjihad have not been a good leader in some portions of your life. Acting submissive really does nothing for the advancement of you, mankind or anyone. We were create equal and mates so as to populate the world and be gaurdians of this world. Sister do not sell yourself short it does not become you.

Good topic here, but Annie if I may interject and no offense to women or sisters aborad but for any woman to say "I am a leader because I can create civilization because I can give birth" is a clichesque remark. Not only is that untrue but that argumenet lacks any credibility. first and foremost the miracle of giving birth comes from God. Second, women cannot miraculously bear children on their own, therefore they need men without men, women cannot bear children not even in the lab sense plain and simple. I am for one an advocate of women as I was raised by a woman but this argument has become tiresome. I do however like your ending where you mention that we as humans are a ll equal on this earth. If you wish to discuss the importance of women in the roles of leadership perhaps this subject is best for the womens section as this is interfaith sister. |

Alaikoam Salam Point well taken. I believe that this is a good interfaith topic as many faiths neglect or subject woman to the back seat when it comes to acknowledging we can be good no excellent leaders and role models. I of course cannot say either sex has lesser stature in terms of leadership, I believe we are equal and we all have our strengths and weaknesses. As for women being Prophets there are many examples in the bible and of course you know I believe we are all Prophets and Messiah and that we are all tested the same way the traditional Prophets were tested in our daily lives and need not go into isloation to find revealation. That is of course my belief and opinion. There have been many woman in history in religious and non religious communities that have made their name a household word but for everyone of them are Billions whose names may never be globally known except in the positive differences they made in their families, communities, nation and world in many ways. Salam
