1, Clearly your projection shows that the land to the West of Mecca is larger than the land to the East. It's due to the projection making Africa and South America look bigger but.... 2, The quickest way to sail around the world in Yatching races involves going as far South as possible and using the fact that the wind and current around the south pole are very fast. This would have to be lots faster to work on your flat earth. 3, Get a TELESCOPE! |

All the land left of Mecca and all the land right of Mecca are equal in size. The South Pole is the ice sheet covering the Earth 360 degrees. So on a flat Earth, the North Pole is the in the centre of the flat earth and if you go anywhere on the plane from there you are actually going south. |

@Tinculin:
I appreciate your efforts, but trying to convince Abul that the earth is a sphere is like trying to argue with a schizophrenic that he's not Napoleon. Even if you gave him a telescope for free he would hold it the wrong way round and say: "I told you so..." Airmano Edited by airmano - 19 November 2015 at 12:42pm |

Abu,
How does the polar projection map you post make Mecca the center of the world? Where is the south pole? |

You'll have to be more clear.
Which part of what I posted have you found to be untrue? |

RUBBISH! to all of the above. Look at the map of the world below and see if one can 'go around the world'. Edited by Abu Loren - 18 November 2015 at 2:00pm |

Here is a little experiment that will falsify your claim without any need for space rocket wizardry. 1) Stand on a ship at sea level and look out to the horizon with a telescope. 2) Have a friend in another boat sail in that direction until he goes out of your view. 3) Now measure the distance between you and your friend (it will be around 3 miles). This means one of 2 things: A) The most powerful telescopes on earth can only see 3 miles B) The earth is not flat (which by definition means it must be curved) You can falsity A by doing the following: 1) Stand on top of a 100 foot pole on a ship at sea level and perform the same experiment. You will be able to see your friend and if you measure the distance you will find that it is approximately 12.2 miles. Conclusion The maximum distance visible by a telescope is not 3 miles. The earth can not be flat (because if it was, i'd be able to see someone at sea level the same distance away as if I was 100 foot up a pole) Therefore, the earth has a curve & if you sail around it, you won't sail over any right angles.. |
