Peace y'all and the Seeking Kay,
Cut-and-paste this link - http://www.shaplus.com I am just using this software tonight, so I don't know how buggy it is - so far, it's really intuitive FREEware to explore the Quran. Just hit play on the downloaded sura and follow along in English and Arabic as you listen. (If you are a Mac user you will need VPC) The ListMemoriser (more Freeware on the same site....http:// www.shaplus.com) is another companion download which offers the transliterated verse and assists those who are trying to memorise the Quran. This = Rock, and I do indeed look forward to it's release on OSX. Have a blessed Friday (mine's almost over here) and Allah 3ounikoom Jamal Morelli Edited by Jamal Morelli |

Hi Angel, I mentioned audio (in the other thread) with respect to "lectures". Quran recitation accompanied with English translation is available on audio/CD too... the one I have : by Darussalaam Publication - translation by Dr Mohsin Khan. Regards...

You know reading is alright and one can get to know another language that way. But you still in the end will need to hear and know how to prounce sound wise, well there are audio language tapes and texts books to go with, I'm sure arabic is amongst them on the shelves to. amah in response to B.H in another thread mentioned audio tapes for/about prayers. That got me thinking, (and perhaps there is and i just catched up) is there an audio tape/CD of the qu'ran that has both english and arabic, like language tapes/cds. There are many stories on audio that you can still get in the shops. I know you can download the qu'ran/bible onto your pc or palm thou but isn't that just readable. Edited by Angel |

Assalaamualiakum First of all, concentrate on reading and understanding the quran (translation)in the language you are most comfortable in. Also try to get a word by word translation. Secondly, try to learn arabic (quranic). Will take time, but worth it. The best way to understand Quran is to know arabic. You need a good teacher. Listening to a recitation in arabic does give peace (provided you are following it up with translation) Lastly , relax! you'll get there....all the best. Peace. ps-yes, transliteration will help you pronounce the arabic word. |
