How many Rsk'ats are in the Fajr, Dhohr,
Asr, Maghrib. and Isha prayers. I'm trying to learn the units of prayers. Then I learned that there are Prayers done before and after the obligatory units of prayers. I am confused.Wacko

Salam/Peace

Fajr (morning before sunrise) 2 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before only.

Dhuhr (noon) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 4 unit sunah (optional) before, 4 unit sunah (optional) after.

Asr (afternoon) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before only.

Maghrib (after sunset) 2 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) after only.

Isha (night) 4 unit fard (obligatory), 2 unit sunah (optional) before, 2 unit sunah (optional) after.

Fard (obligatory) means you have to do it, if don't you will get sin (not consider you've performed the prayer yet), if you do it you get reward.

Sunah (optional, recommended) means you don't have to do it,  if you do it you get reward, if you don't, it's OK.

My suggestion for the beginning just to do the obligatory. After you are getting useed to it, you can add the optional. Just do it gradually, little by little.

Can someone Translalate the following Prayer into Arabic for me; it's a recitation from my prayers and it needs to be in Arabic. Thanks. Here are the words:"O Lord make me one who establish regular prayer, and also(raise such) among my offspring.O our Lord! And accept thou prayer. O Lord! Cover (us) with thy forgiveness---me, my parents and all believers on The Day that the Reckoning will be established." Jazakalla Khair.Thumbs%20Up

Could some please translate this prayer for me. It's called the Dua'ay Qanoot. I say this prayer at the very end and I would like to know what it says: "Allahhumma inn nasta 'eenuka wa nastagh firuks wa nu'minu bika wa nata wakkalu 'alai wa nusnee alaial      khatr wa nashkora wa laa nak foroka man yaf joroka. Allaa huma  iyya na' budo wa laka nus sal lee wa nasjodo wa illaika na'aa wa nah fid wa nurjoo rahmataka wa nakh  sha' azaabaka inn 'azzbaka bil kuffari mulhiq." Jazakallah khair.Cry

O' Allah ! I seek help from You, ask forgiveness from You, and believe in You and praise You for all the good things and are grateful to You and we part and break off with all those who disobedient to You. O Allah, You alone do we worship and pray exclusively to You and bow before You alone and we hasten eagerly towards You and fear Your severe punishment and hope for Your mercy, for Your severe punishment is surely to be meted out to the disbelievers.
