The woman is man's first teacher. She is his first leader in life. This is not to say that we should put our women out front with no protection. This is just to point out that Allah made her thus. Man seekd to make her other than what Allah has made.

Why do women need protection in mosques, it should be there already. And anyway why not lead prayer at the back, behind the congregation, everyone should still hear. men can't see but still hear the words of prayer. |

Please don't misunderstand my intent, I was not speaking in opposition to you. Our women do need protection from the enemy. The problem is, oftimes we have been the enemy. |

Who believes what's printed in Egyptian newspapers? Assuming Islam is meant to be somewhat adaptable to the communities and societies it's found in, why can't women lead prayers in places where men are better taught to control themselves? In places where men and women mix all the time, one assumes that most of the men in those communities are so used to having women around that they DON'T think about sex every time they see or hear a woman. In places like this where men are more mature and have more self control and manners, one assumes it should be ok for women to lead prayers. And let's face it - if there are men around who CANNOT control such immature thoughts, then they need some women leaders ANYWAY in order to learn to respect women and NOT just see them as sex objects. heh I get out a LOT - often with my male friends who have never abused a woman in their entire lives. They are polite, respectful, intelligent, hard-working, just and sensible. I have great friends, male and female. I'm a very lucky girl. Kim...

Bi ismillahir rahmanir raheem
Hello Kim Are you the same Kim from the old Forum? have you had a chance to read An Examination of Female led Prayer This is the legal aspect of the hole discussion. I dont know how legal minded you are or if you have ever had a chance to look at the islamic legal system or it's methodology (Usul al Fiqh). Islamic laws are based on a methodology, deriving these laws from the Quran and Sunnah it is not a matter of simple opinion since wisdom is also required to understand these laws. Making a judgment on personel experiances based on current culture trends which define how men and women should behave lacks forsight and wisdom. What is correct today maybe incorect tommorrow, generaly speaking western (australian) culture is increasingly materialitic and exploitive of women, it has no shame or moral conciance in using women in a sexual nature to promote just about anything from house cleaning products to car cleaner this atitude can only increase as newer generations are exposed to this exploitation and see it as a norm. At the same time it is desensitising them to it which means that inevitably those who set the current trends and moral standards will have to go to new lengths and depths to get a reaction from their audiance. This situation is increasignly dynamic and not static, Which is what Islam is trying to prevent moral Decay of a society. |
