Well, you're living in a very spiritual place. I wonder if they have Alcoholics Anonymous over in Israel. For some, this is a great place to meet and share experiences. May the Lord guide you to where you should be, Ath

They do have AA here. My students are all exceptional musicians. Usually
before they work with me. My job is to mentor them one on one and one by one. It's pretty intense stuff. I can't screw it up. Artists especially young artists are sort of from a different planet. For the most part they are gifted and I accept that I am frequently alone in a room with a 14 year old child with a 50% higher IQ than my own. In anywhere from 4 years to 10 months the Jewish kids become the the property of the IDF. If I can get them to a point where they show clear excellence they go to Julliard or Berkley or become National Treasures. If I fail them they go to Army intelligence to be chased around a desk by some career officer for 2 years if they are girls. If they are boys they may be trained to death or have the magic driven from their soul forever. |

I was shocked once to see for a short time that I have changed just by merely 6 hours sleep, or is this dream and I am still sleeping?. I don't drink but now I am in the state of considering to join alcoholic anonymous too. I promise from today I will look at poster's name, amen.

Assalamu alaikum Daniel, Hang tough, life without alcohol is so very much better, once your body gets over the shock! You will be pleasantly surprised at the clarity with which you will now percieve things. This life is tough enough without muddying up your brain with a substance that clearly disables your ability to really see things as they are. I am sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. Sometimes I think it is a blessing when a spouse dies so close to when their life partner has already departed. It is sad how she went...life there in the "holy land" is not easy for anyone in these times. Perhaps if you can find it in your heart to replace alcohol with prayer and thankfulness to Allah for all His blessings, you might find your journey eased a bit. I will pray for your sobriety. Peace, ummziba. |

I knew I'd hear from you! sis,
It was more like a medication than anything else. I never drove under the influence I never got drunk I had made rules guidelines so that it was always the minimum amount to keep it all together. I was romanced by it in high school but over the years it got "old" No one knew except me. The physical reaction was a total shock. I was having these short little visual hallucinations for a while but after a day of that they went away too. It was more like a bad bout of the grip than what I've heard told. |

Bismillah, Peace, Daniel! I hadn't seen this thread till today. I want to respond to your living forever comment. Thanks for your hilarity! To change an addiction, change your normal habits, routines, that surrounded your addiction. Even little changes will help. Wow! You've admitted to yourself and us that you have this problem, and most people aren't able to reach that step. You're doing great! Ma'Shah Allah! |
