Do legal principles matter in reality to anyone? What will the political expediency, some are calling betrayal, achieve for the Palestinian Authorities?

Sometimes I seriously wonder about those negotiations. I agree they should have started with the 1947 partition plan. It would have made it easier to negotiate with Israel to at least go to the 1967 borders. Even the treaty with Egypt restates resolution 242 and Israel's agreement to honor it. Obviously they never did, but it really needs to be pushed at the negotiating table and the best way to do that is to start bigger. I really wish we could have stronger Palestinian leadership that could lead the way in these negotiations. I think everyone would like to see these issues resolved. Edited by Salams_wife |

I hate that someone would come and post something like that on here. We don't want their personal advertisements.

This sounds wonderful! Let's skip the usual polite and necessary introductory emails and just meet at midnight at the Empire State Buidling on New Year's Eve. See you then! |

Salaams, Salaams' Wife! I especially liked the part where they said to the author of this that if he could do better than them, then do so. I think people tried that and they suppressed them militarily and financially for trying it. What do the Phalasteenee who live in Phalasteen (and Israel) want from these negotiations? Do they expect any success? But my posed question still is: What does the PA hope to achieve from the talks? Is it just to dance to any tune that the powers-that-be have sung and hope for their own families to be left out of the bloodshed while the rest of the Phalasteeneeyeen suffer under occupation, oppression, violence and terror each day of their lives with little hope for basic survival needs being met? |

You know, this is one subject I can rant and rage about for long periods of time without getting tired. Honestly I don't know how the Palestinians do it. I admire them for sticking to what they believe and staying on their land. God knows if they left they would never get it back (as these peace talks show). Yet they suffer every day in so many ways there. The worst part is they can't get leadership that will truly do his best for them. I can't be for sure what he wants, but I suspect he wants some credit for accomplishing something for the Palestinians. Also, he probably hopes this process will help keep him in power for awhile longer as people wait to see how it comes out. His position is at its weakest with the Palestinians now. All he has left is the west. I have a feeling more concessions will be made on the Palestinian side and they will lose even more if a Peace treaty is to ever be signed. The whole thing drives me crazy when I hear the Israelis continue to complain how hard things are for them, that they do their best. They sacrificed so much (yeah, by stealing from the arabs). I often wonder if they aren't trying to recreate a Nazi concentration camp for the Palestinians of the the West Bank and Gaza Strip. There are few differences left. |
